Chris-Tia Donaldson is an entrepreneur, Senior Corporate Counsel at Oracle, and Vice President of Operations at Thank God I’m Natural (tgin). Chris-Tia is author of the Amazon best-selling book “Thank God I’m Natural-The Ultimate Guide to Caring for and Maintaining Natural Hair”. She holds degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Law school and now lives in Chicago. 

Chris-Tia has been featured in USA Today, Essence Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun Times, the Detroit News, the Boston Bay State Banner, as well, as many other national publications. She also has been a guest on ABC News, Fox News, WGN-9 Chicago News and the Garrard McClendon Show for her thoughts on black women, beauty issues, self-esteem and sustainable lifestyle choices. 

Chris-Tia will be speaking at the 2012 Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) National Conference in Chicago early November. Her session is titled “Surviving Your First Year in Business: How to Prevent Your Startup From Failing”.

I was able to touch base with Chris-Tia before the conference through a short interview conducted via email: 

Michael Luchies: Why do you feel it is important to speak to young students/college entrepreneurs?

Chris-Tia Donaldson: We live in a world that is constantly changing, coupled with the fact that we have an extremely high employment rate. It is important for people to learn at an early age that they can be creators of job, instead of everyday employees depending on a major corporation for our livelihood.
